Position Overview:
The Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing instructional support and classroom management in the absence of the regular teacher. This role ensures continuity of education and fosters a positive learning environment for students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher.
- Maintain classroom discipline and manage student behavior.
- Engage students in learning activities and ensure their safety.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration.
- Reporting child safeguarding and any significant behavioral concerns to the divisional Assistant Principal or Principal.
- Provide feedback to the regular teacher regarding student performance and classroom events.
- Cover supervision slots as needed (break times).
Qualifications:
- College or University degree: Bachelor's degree in Education or related field preferred; teaching certification is a plus.
- Previous teaching or classroom experience is desirable.
- Strong English communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to various classroom settings and student needs.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require flexibility in working with various age groups and subject matters.
- Substitute Teacher may work in a variety of classroom settings across different grades.
