  Exxon Mobil in China   Exxon Mobil has a long history in China dating back to 1892 when its predecessor Standard Oil began marketing kerosene to light the Mei Foo lamps at Chinese homes.

  Research & Development Exxon Mobil Shanghai Technology Center (STC) opened in 2011 to develop and deliver innovative solutions to customers throughout China and Asia Pacific.

In April 2018, we completed the multi-million dollar expansion of STC.

On February 15, 2023, Exxon Mobil broke ground on construction of a new technology center at the Dayawan Petrochemical Industrial Park.

  What role you will play in our team   You will be designated as a battery materials development engineer.

This is expected to be a senior/mid-career technical position.

You will be embedded in our lithium team, working as part of the technology group.

Your task will be to support commercialization of our lithium products by applying your expertise in battery materials development including your experience in cathode making and testing.

You will be expected to stay abreast of new battery chemistry developments, anticipate upcoming trends and translate them to steer our products towards new, value-added features.

You will work in close collaborations with R& D and our Sales and Marketing teams, as well as externally with customers, battery companies, OEMs and academia The position will be based out of Houston, TX.

However, if you are currently located in China, your position will be based out of our Shanghai Technology Center.

Moderate travel is expected   What you will do   Conduct laboratory studies to evaluate performance of EM lithium products.

This will involve tasks such as characterizing product through relevant analytical techniques, formulating cathode active materials, developing coin and pouch cells, and executing cell performance tests Perform statistical data analysis for cathode & cell quality Develop property-process-performance relationship models for different Lithium products with cell performance Engage with customers at a technical level to understand the relationship between customer specifications and their CAM/Cell performance targets Leverage cell and “Voice of Customer” data to determine direct and interaction effects of EM Lithium products under evaluation and execute root-cause analysis of failures and appropriate modifications to the Lithium product specifications.

ac impedance, cycle life testing Demonstrated expertise and success in design and development of components and assemblies for lithium-ion battery Competency in the Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) process Experience in design and development of batteries/cell (and ideally lithium-ion cells) Familiarity with Statistical Analysis and Design of Experiments (e.g.
