The Financial Institutions and Funds Clients Department, Global (FIF) is responsible for expanding AIIB client relationships among financial institutions and funds in the infrastructure sector globally.
FIF works closely with financial institutions and funds across the range of AIIB-covered sectors, geographies, client types and products as a conduit for AIIB to deliver its Corporate Strategy and targets.
In addition, FIF focuses on ongoing expansion of business, targeting opportunities with high alignment with AIIB’s sector strategy and private capital mobilization to close the infrastructure investment gap in Asia.
This includes investment in Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs) and other structured products.
FIF is looking for Investment Officers who will be responsible for the origination, structuring, and execution of investments within the designated client coverage and/or product remit.
This role may also include portfolio and investment monitoring functions for certain projects overseen by FIF during their implementation.
Investment Officers are responsible for the origination, execution and management of their investments in accordance with the Bank’s operational policies and sound banking principles, including the assessment of commercial and financial viability, structuring according to international best practices, appropriate risk allocation and mitigation, and a market rate of return reflecting the risks of the investment.
Investment Officers may be expected to work closely with other relevant AIIB departments, assist Management in preparing strategies for building the investment pipeline and assist in implementing these strategies.
Investment Officers will maintain an active dialogue with the market, provide current updates to both internal and external clients and support activities in pursuit of new business.
Responsibilities: Working in geographically focused teams or sub-teams, co-lead the origination, structuring, execution and monitoring of investment projects within the Financial Institutions (FI) business line, as assigned by the Director General, FIF.
Co-lead project due diligence and approval processes, with emphasis on ensuring key economic, financial, technical, and legal issues are considered and mitigants incorporated in the financing structure and legal documents.
Contribute to establishing, developing and maintaining strong relationships with multilateral, international, regional and local FIs with the aim of developing the business pipeline and promoting AIIB’s investment mandate.
Develop and grow a diversified base of new FIs and identify prospective new sources of capital mobilization and expand relationships with existing clients.
Investment Officers assigned to syndication will be expected to establish a strong relationship with established B-lenders, parallel lenders and insurance providers to respond to the needs of other client departments (Project and Corporate Finance, Public Sector Clients Region 1, Public Sector Clients Region 2) and deliver direct private capital mobilization.
At the appropriate level, represent FIF in meetings, and assist in coordination, participation, following up and reporting.
Participate in the Bank’s internal coordination through information exchanges and teamwork with relevant divisions of the Bank; support the Department’s team and Management in achieving targets and objectives.
Requirements: Minimum 5-8 years of relevant work experience in the field of corporate/project finance syndication gained in commercial/investment banks, Export Credit Agencies (ECAs), international credit insurance companies/broking firms and/or international financial institutions; Understanding of international capital markets, especially commercial banks, credit guarantees/insurance, and financial products, including loans, swaps and CDS; Experience using available research tools including Dealogic–Loan Analytics, Bloomberg and market publications, and bookrunning platforms such as Debtdomain, Intralinks and Syndtrak; Experience in the financial institutions sector will be an advantage; Experience in structuring comprehensive solutions across financial products using debt, private equity and funds, and/or capital market instruments; Proven project leading / management skills - able to identify, engage and work with different stakeholders across private and public sectors, such as issuers, institutional investors, regulators, banks and other intermediaries; Strong financial, analytical and credit skills; Good team player with strong interpersonal skills, and commitment to work in a respectful, team oriented and multi-cultural environment; Proficient oral and written communication skills in English, knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, French, Arabic or languages of South East Asian countries in which AIIB invests would be an advantage; and Master’s degree in business, economics, finance or science.
Candidates with Bachelor’s degree will also be considered provided the candidate has additional years of relevant experience (or leadership experience) in lieu of a Master’s degree.
