Summary:
This Java Developer position at State Street focuses on maintaining and enhancing a global FX trading system. The role requires expertise in Java development, Oracle Database management, and Bash scripting while working in an Agile environment with a distributed global team. The ideal candidate will contribute to mission-critical financial infrastructure, handling high-volume foreign exchange transactions and collaborating across time zones to deliver robust, scalable solutions.
Responsibilities: Collaborate with a global team of developers across multiple time zones to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level Java applications
Work within an Agile development environment, participating in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives
Develop and optimize backend services using Java and related technologies
Write and maintain Bash scripts for deployment and system maintenance tasks
Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development best practices
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments
Ensure application performance, security, and scalability
Demonstrate more independence of design and development
Required Skills & Qualifications: At least 3 years of experience with full lifecycle of project development for Java applications.
B. S. degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical course of study required. MS degree strongly preferred.
Excellent English Reading and written skills
Strong proficiency in Java (Java 17 or higher)
Experience with Oracle Database including SQL, PL/SQL, and performance optimization
Proficiency in Bash scripting for deployment
Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Nice to have: Experience Frontend technologies like React
Excellent English verbal skills
Understanding of messaging systems (Kafka, JMS)
AI coding tool experience
