Staff Hardware Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization.
You will be responsible for WLAN/BT hardware application design including PCB board design, hardware/RF performance tuning, issue debug, and certification tasks.
This position reports to the Sr.
Manager, Hardware Development. Responsibilities & Competencies Job Duties Board level RF/Circuit hardware design for WLAN/BT chip solution, RF/system performance qualification and optimization for both custom and internal reference WLAN and BT designs Develop detailed test plans to signal integrity, and connectivity for all phases of product testing and certification including bench, certification lab Responsible for delivering regulatory and commercial certifications for connectivity such as FCC, Wi-Fi Alliance, BT SIG Lead efforts with development engineers to debug and diagnose issues Work cross functionally with other Validation and Test teams to troubleshoot complex issues and review test plans Provide technical guidance in chip/board development and chip bring-up, leverage your broad expertise in system tuning and optimization Competencies Specification level understanding of multiple wireless technologies such as cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Previous product experience in Wi Fi or BT technologies Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment to complete projects on time with minimal guidance Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas Resourceful and able to solve complex problems through adaptation of existing technology and investigation of new technology to resolve complex problems Ability to work with dynamic, geographically distributed teams, with the passion to become part of cross-functional teams as necessary to ensure testability Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate complex interactive design concepts clearly Qualifications (Requirements) Bachelor’s degree (masters preferred) in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or related field or equivalent 12+ years of experience in Consumer, or related industries that involve embedded systems with cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Experience with system test, troubleshooting and root cause analysis of wireless hardware at the PCB and module level Deep understanding of system level RF parametric (power, sensitivity, EVM, etc.) and the impact they have on the overall system Experience using RF equipment, Wi Fi and BT testers such as Litepoint/Qxel, R&S CMW500, and CAD tools such as Mentor, Allegro, Or CAD, PADS, etc. Proven track record of presenting to both technical and product level teams at the appropriate level of detail No travel required Belief in Diversity Synaptics is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to workforce diversity.
